Welcome to the new Young Adult virtual book club!

Hey everyone,

First off, welcome to the new Young Adult virtual book club! This club is intended for young adults in grades 6-9, but anyone is more than welcome to participate. This is the first time we've done a virtual book club so it is an experiment- I'd love to hear your thoughts and any feedback you may have. Participating is pretty simple- just read the book (we have copies in the Young Adult Room at Forbes) and join the blog. I will be writing a new post every Monday and Wednesday beginning January 6th. Monday's posts will be a discussion-type post. Wednesday's post will be something fun related to the novel we are reading- maybe a YouTube interview with the author, a little bit of interesting trivia- it will vary by week. At about the middle of each month, I will create a post asking everyone what book they would like to read for the next month.

January's book will be "Al Capone Does My Shirts" a novel by Gennifer Choldenko.

The story follows Moose Flanagan as his family movies to Alcatraz Island where his father has been hired to work as a guard. This funny story- with a touching ending- is sure to become a favorite.
